What's All the BUZZ About??

It was Blaise's 1st Birthday and his mommy, Jessica, asked me to make something special that she could keep as a momento. When he was in her belly, she called him "little Bee" and so it was most appropriate to have a "bee" themed birthday celebration. I created 25 bees out of grossgrain ribbon to use as props for the party. Take a look at the cake! Jessica used some of the bees to compliment the cake with an adorable picture of Blaise in a "bee" costume. The remainder bees were hung from the ceiling with fishing wire to look like they were "buzzing" around the party. Super cute. Happy 1st Birthday Blaise!

To Bow*tique or ... Oh what the heck - Let's do it!

As mom to three little ones ages 5 and under, I thought my world was already chaotic...Yet, it just wouldn't be "me" if I didn't add a dash more complexity to my already complex world! Insert little girl inspiration...I've been dabbling with creating bows, hair accessories, really anything girlie over the last couple of weeks.

Angel Audrey, my youngest child and only girl, is seven months old now, and I must say, girls really ARE fun! I recently made some hair bow protoypes and put them out to the universe via Facebook to see peoples' reactions and get feedback. At first it was just for fun, to dress up baby girl. The response was so positive that now I am considering opening up an etsy store to see if any of my creations will sell...It's exciting to think about doing something "business"-related again, yet, I am a bit apprehensive to get back "on the horse" as one would say...Not quite ready for the commitment nor the pressure I inevitably put on myself to run a business with my "Go Big or Go Home!" attitude...I've learned quite a bit from my mistakes in the past however (insert going nuts on marketing during my days as a real estate entrepreneur and spending WAY too much money, thus tailspinning my family into a financial black hole... thankfully we are climbing back out of it now...though very slowly)...This time if I decide to give this little business a whirl, it will be more casual, fun, and really just an expanded hobby...Afterall, my most important job right now is being mom to Trey, Cameron and Audrey. So I've set up an etsy store, haven't posted any inventory yet, but keep checking back. I'll have some cute stuff up at the store soon. I even have some orders for bows already so that is encouraging! xoxo Amy & Co.

Amidst or Amongst???

Ahhh, yes, English composition coming back to haunt me...Such pressure for correct word choice and this is my very first blog! Relax, Amy, relax. No one really cares... do they? My obsessive compulsive mind couldn't just guess, so I had to look it up: AMIDST: in or into the middle of vs. AMONGST: surrounded or encompassed by...Am I "surrounded by" flowers or in the "middle" of flowers...Well, surrounded by sounds like I am about to get overtaken, yikes! In the middle of sounds like I am right there in the trenches...And I am definitely in the trenches...So AMIDST it is...

I chose Amidst the Flowers for the double meaning - flowers as actual plants, which is a reminder to me to always take time to stop and smell the roses, and Flowers as in our last name, which refers to our family and my three little growing "buds," Treyvon - age 5, Cameron - age 3, and Angel Audrey - age 6 months.

This blog will be a series of my thoughts, sometimes deep, sometimes very shallow, sometimes just observing...allthewhile taking in the sweet smells amongst the blooming world around me...

I'm not committing to anything profound here - not trying to change the world or anything, but would like to document my experiences, thoughts, memories of life... Life is most definitely about the journey...I think of my friend, Julia, who is on her own life-changing/saving odyssey, traveling around the U.S. to meet every single facebook and myspace "friend" and blogging about the experiences. Oh yes, she can attest, life is DEFINITELY about the journey.
